Minneapolis Radiation Oncology, P.A. has partnered with the University of Minnesota Medical Center in a venture establishing the only center in the Minneapolis/ St.Paul area with the leading edge technology called Gamma Knife. MRO began treating patients with the Gamma Knife in the spring of 2005. During his career, Dr. Sperduto has treated over 2800 patients with stereotactic radiosurgery, including the prior technique, a modified linear accelerator, and now the Gamma Knife. In the first year of operation, Dr. Sperduto has treated over 160 patients using the Gamma Knife. Dr. Sperduto has, by far, the most experience in stereotactic radiosurgery of any physician using the center and among the most experience of any physician in the nation and around the world. He is active in research and is a reviewer of scientific publications in the field.
Dr. Sperduto and his team are dedicated to providing the best treatment available for adult and pediatric patients with benign and malignant primary tumors of the brain, metastatic brain tumors, certain pain conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia and certain vascular abnormalities (arteriovenous malformations).
